Our Mission

Appalachian Forest Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health, productivity, and sustainability of Appalachian forests while helping meet critical community needs.

We believe healthy forests benefit everyone. Through responsible forest stewardship, education, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships, we work to restore and improve woodlands while creating positive impacts for people and wildlife alike.

Our organization is guided by a simple principle:

Healthy forests strengthen communities.

What We Do

Appalachian Forest Alliance works to:

  • Improve forest health through stewardship and restoration projects.
  • Produce and distribute firewood to families in need.
  • Develop future forestry professionals through training and hands-on experience.
  • Encourage sustainable forest management practices.
  • Support wildlife habitat improvement.
  • Reduce the impact of invasive species.
  • Provide educational opportunities for landowners, students, and volunteers.

Our Vision

We envision a future where Appalachian forests are healthier, more resilient, and better able to support wildlife, clean water, sustainable wood products, and local communities for generations to come.
